Xbox Titles Take Over PS5 Charts—Forza Horizon 5, Oblivion Remastered Outsell Sony’s Lineup
Microsoft just pulled off the unthinkable: it’s dominating Sony’s own platform.
Despite trailing in console sales, Xbox has surged to the top of the PlayStation 5 sales charts in the U.S.—not with exclusives, but by releasing its own games directly to the competition. According to Circana analyst Mat Piscatella, six of the top ten best-selling PS5 titles from April 6 to July 5, 2025, were Microsoft-published games.
🏆 Top Xbox-Published Titles on PS5:
- Forza Horizon 5
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (Xbox owns Activision-Blizzard)
- DOOM: The Dark Ages
- Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
- Minecraft
The strongest seller was Forza Horizon 5, which sped past Sony’s first-party offerings. Oblivion Remastered, Bethesda’s revival of the iconic RPG, followed in second. Meanwhile, Sony’s only major release during the window—Death Stranding 2: On the Beach—dropped just as the sales period ended. Prior to that, MLB The Show 25 (March) was their last notable first-party launch.
Piscatella emphasized a growing industry shift:
“Exclusives don’t move consoles anymore. People are entrenched in their ecosystems—and publishers win by meeting them there.”
This trend signals a fundamental change: players aren’t willing to leave their libraries, friends lists, and console habits behind for a single game. Instead, platform loyalty is giving way to content accessibility.
With the overwhelming success of Forza and Oblivion on PS5, Piscatella also hinted that more Xbox games are likely coming to PlayStation in the near future. The message from Microsoft is clear: if the mountain won’t come to Xbox, Xbox will go to the mountain.
🧠 MainEvent.News | Backstage Take:
This is a flex of epic proportions. Xbox isn’t just selling games—it’s selling dominance, on rival turf. By releasing key titles on PS5, Microsoft is evolving beyond the console war. It’s a move Sony should be sweating—especially if more XBOX exclusive Bethesda, Activision, or even Halo titles cross over, which they most likely will.
